Honouring Louis Riel – Métis Old Time Dance

BCMF is proud to hosting a Métis cultural celebration. On Saturday, November 19, at the Hall Whalley Legion in Surrey, BCMF will be honouring Louis Riel with a Métis old time dance. Cocktails start at 5pm, Potluck Supper starts at 6pm, and the dance start at 7pm. The night will include a short historical discussion by George and Terry Goulet and will feature the following fiddlers: Phil & Aimee Fauteux, Rob Crozier. The night will be open mic and all artists are welcome.

  • Tickets: $10 each, $5 for 13 and under
  • Door prize auctions
  • 50/50 games

The Hall Whalley Legion (Branch 229) is located at 13525-106 Avenue, Surrey, near the Gateway Skytrain Station.

    Moccsin and Capote work shop, some leather and HBC blankets available for lessons.

    I suggest the Moosehide splits (both side Swed about 2 sq ft plus for a pair of moccs .
    Large darning needles and black wool.
    If you have a large HBC blanket , you can do your own capote, we do have a couple of good used ones available at cost ($20 or 30 )

    Bannock and jam served, please bring a small addition for lunch

      Tansi Richard,

      Please let me know if you would be interested in doing the same in the Fraser Valley. I have not spoken to the FVMA and this would be independent to all who are interested in learning.

      If you would be willing to come, I will seek funding for your expenses and you can specify what you would like the attendee’s to supply in order to participate.

    A small correction on our Moccsin and Capote making event, the date has been changed to Sunday Nov 13, noon to 3 p.m.
