(Clearwater, BC) BC Métis Federation continued building community by supporting the National Aboriginal Day with Métis and Aboriginal culture this past weekend in Clearwater. Representatives from the BC Métis Federation attended the National Aboriginal Day celebration in Clearwater this past Saturday.
The National Aboriginal Day celebrations held in Clearwater were located at the Dutch Community Center and were put together by the North Thompson Aboriginal Cultural Center Society. The President Cindy Wilgosh led the event planning and set up with support by Derrick Whiteskycloud from the Michif Historical and Preservation Society along with other community members. The
BC Métis Federation contributed in terms of dancers with Rowan and Quinn Pickering and marketing of the event. BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “Congratulations to local Métis leader Cindy Wilgosh and the entire team. The event was a major success, well attended and fun for all. An estimated 120 people attended. The organization and set up was excellent. It was an excellent showcase of Métis culture.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “A special thank you to Office Manager Sherry Daniels for her representation on my behalf as I was away. Her work with board member JJ Lavallee, who provided one of the main music and singing performances, and our Métis dancers Rowan and Quinn Pickering were an excellent contribution to the overall success of this event.”
