Project Coming Home Announced

BC Métis Federation has prioritized Métis culture as the cornerstone of the organization since it was launched in 2011. This has included support for numerous language and event activities each year. This past weekend the board met with Michif Historical and Cultural Preservation Society representatives to negotiate a new relationship. Today BC Métis Federation and the Michif Historical and Cultural Preservation Society are proud to announce a major new undertaking entitled “Project Coming Home”.

BC Métis Federation and the Michif Historical and Cultural Preservation Society have agreed to work together to prepare the planning and implementation of a new Métis cultural center in Vancouver, British Columbia. This plan is to partner and share Métis cultural assets to have a facility located in a prime publicly accessible location for all British Columbians to come and learn about the Métis people and our culture in BC.

Fantastic idea. One thought- make it a gathering place where Metis can come on a casual basis to share camaraderie, have a cup of tea or coffee, biscuits and swap Metis stories a la Ken Fisher’s Nova office. It will make the Metis “Proud to be Metis”
