At least they admit it....This initiative hasnt happened for a number of years. How about never...! Didnt happen last election, use MNBC dollars under a different guise? They will be met with serious critism in our region.

I congratulate BC MANR for speaking out. Enbridge paid for the enactment of the Metis Consultation Project team, and to date there has been no consultation with our communities, while they sign deals with Enbridge. Mark Carlson is absolutely right in calling this an "illegal" signing. We do not support this pipeline, and this will be well versed to MNBC when they perform there travelling roadshow to sell this project after the fact. This is the worst leadership we have ever had!

Let's be clear. This is about money and greed. Oil has always been driven by money at the expense of all else. Greed comes from those who want to hitch their wagons (or Red River carts) to it.
BCMANR, welcome to the world of the enlightened. Now you see where this dictatorship has shut, even you, out. MNBC President's explanation makes even less sense than his actions. The greed that has driven this MNBC board from day one had only been further exposed by Enbrige oil. Do not take it personal. At the end of the day it's all about the paycheque. IMO

I am so proud, this will give us all stronger roots for our children.Thank you Canada-China Foundation. We must learn to walk hand in hand in order for everyone to respect one another. Our Cultural difference will be the Key to help us build those bridges. To me even how each nationality does business is pasted on from generation to generation. Therefore just because we have different opinions, does not mean we cannot come up with solutions to work together. When you understand a persons Culture,it is a deep rooted personality that passed on from our ancestors.Welcome to the team, and i am so grateful.

http://www.pacificwild.org/site/events/1336523683.html

As most of you know, some members of the North Saanich Michif Soc have engaged in Protest Marches/Rally against Enbridge Oil pipelines and tanker s on the West Coast.

As this has been a ongoing part of my life in Greater Victoria and has led into meeting other Metis with the same aims at these events, I thought it is time to let all the Members of the North Saanich Michif Soc and other Metis on Vancouver Island ,know what is happening.

The Protest Ride starts in Campbell River /Comox on may 18th and progresses south according to their schedule on the website.

I invite members to see the riders off with our best wishes ( Metis Flags optional) . myself and Victoria Members will meet the Riders and others who attend at the May 21st End and picnic at the B C Legislative Grounds .

We hope to be there about 3 p.m. with Flags and an extra banner or two, anyone wishing to join us can spot my large hat and a BCMF Flag.

The Ride and Protest is intended to be peaceful and signs, placards against Enbridge /Oil/tankers if you have them, Draw, paint a Infinity of your placards so we can get together, we usually join with the First Nations groups, sashes and drums would be nice..

Metis 2012:
Your: "the Metis act in saskatchewan simply recognizes to work with a Metis corporation. It does nothing for the grassroots people . The act must be ratified by a majority of the Metis people, without ratification the policy does not represent the will of the Metis community. "

My thoughts as well, the closest Alberta has to a Metis Act in the Metis settlements Act or whatever the Province uses, I have talked to knowledgeable, thinking Metis residents of the settlements , and yes it has some problems but probably more positive than negative.

I have read their sources of policies , which sounds good but a look at what happens on the ground is a suggested requirement before either accepting the policies or in my case even considering moving there.
I do agree with several other Metis cousins who have visited the Settlements, it's a nice feeling to stand on Metis Land.

Our family has always voted liberal in both federal and provincial elections, but I think it is time to seriously look at voting NDP. The record of aboriginal policy this current federal liberal leadership has is atrocious, t hey have set back aboriginal negotiations 100 years with their decisions on industrial projects. Tom flanagan is behind directing Harpers policy and it is his racism is showing.

Provincially we have also voted liberal but you myz well call the liberals the new conservative party. The Metis Nation accord signed a few years ago, nothing majorly significant has been worked out on any front to better Metis peoples lives in BC.

Your comments on Metis Act are interesting Scott Fraser, although to implement such an act it must work for the people, the Metis act in saskatchewan simply recognizes to work with a Metis corporation. It does nothing for the grassroots people . The act must be ratified by a majority of the Metis people, without ratification the policy does not represent the will of the Metis community.

Voting NDP next election, this interview has changed my opinion.

M y condolence to the Goulet Family, its with great sorrow, to loose another great Metis Citizen. I cherish the Elders in our Nation, they have so much to offer to our youth, to carry on our traditions, and culture and our dying language,

With the Elders geting older it is with great importance that we work hard has a Nation to keep our traditions, culture true to the Metis way of life, listening to the Elders when they speak about the past. The music, the laughter, the family.

Growing up Metis was one of the best life experience I can past on to my children, so they never forget what our fore fathers fought and worked for. The music, the laughter, the family.

Happy Trails Marge till we meet again
