Traditional Knowledge Circles – Plant Medicine Workshop

***This workshop is currently at capacity.  If you would like to be added to the waitlist or to enquire about future opportunities, email k.sison@bcmetis.com.

BC Metis Federation is proud to launch the first of many new Traditional Knowledge Circles.  This workshop will take place in two sessions, September 8th and 22nd, from 7-8:00 PM PDT. In the first session Vanessa Prescott, a Metis Clinical Herbal Therapist, will show attendees how to identify three helpful plant allies commonly found in different areas of B.C. and their many benefits. In the second session, Vanessa will teach you how to transform these plants with a few items you already likely have in your home. Make medicines alongside Vanessa with a kit that will be delivered locally in the lower mainland, mailed to you, or picked up at the BCMF office in Vancouver. The sessions are held over zoom so that you can tune in from anywhere. ***This workshop is currently at capacity. To make sure you are on the mailing list and are notified of future workshops, email Kassandra Sison at k.sison@bcmetis.com.

About Vanessa:

Vanessa Prescott is a Métis Clinical Herbal Therapist. She specializes in using plant medicine to treat the emotional causes of illness. She provides a safe, knowledge-rich space for members of our community.

“To be trusted, it is said, is greater than to be loved.”
Two of Vanessa’s greatest honours are to be trusted in her community and authentically walk on this Earth.
She will be working for BC Cancer in August as 1 of 10 Indigenous Patient Navigators, a brand new position in the health care system.

Vanessa is passionate about teaching herbal medicine in a casual, honest, educated and fun way! Vanessa reminds us that herbal medicine is the people’s medicine, the medicine of our ancestors and the land – to know and practice plant medicine is an inherent right for all to connect with and return to.

Maarsii for your time, Vanessa! We are all very excited to learn from you.

If you have a suggestion for a future workshop, please reach out to BCMF Culture and Community Coordinator Jeremy Lavallee at j.lavallee@bcmetis.com.
