(Vancouver, BC) The BC Métis Federation and the newly formed Métis Economic Development Corporation board members met this weekend to launch the latest exciting new initiative brought forward by the BC Métis Federation. The agenda was based on an introduction of current steps and to review the ongoing progress while ensuring a clear vision for the future.
The meeting included a review the Métis Economic Development Corporation business plan along with a number of current economic development initiatives already underway. The new board members were provided background and additional information on key marketing strategies such as the website development and upcoming Industry Forum scheduled for September 25th, 2015 in Kamloops which will be led by the Métis Economic Development Corporation.
BC Mètis Federation President Henry stated, “This meeting was positive and constructive. The boards were advised and provided insight into expectations and roles going forward. The various board members realized the need to separate politics from economic development. This new structure provides an independent platform for any Métis small business to consider for their future businesses interests.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “This work is critical to our future in BC. Many leaders have talked about self sufficiency but do not understand how to set up these structures that provide proper legal frameworks. The founding Métis Economic Development Corporation board members are excellent individuals that bring talent and expertise from throughout BC. With this commitment I am confident that we will make several new steps going forward together and in the best interests of our members, their business growth, and partner communities. These are very exciting times and our perseverance continues to gain support throughout BC.”
