BC Métis Federation Attends Métis Community Meeting Port Edward

(Prince Rupert, BC) – BC Métis Federation leadership continued their community work by visiting north west British Columbia this weekend. A meeting was organized in the Prince Rupert area held in Port Edward. BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry, Vice President Daryl Piper, and board members Rene Therrien and Gloria Rendell attended and contributed to an informal discussion and update including identifying next steps to rebuild community support in Prince Rupert.

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated; “This was a nice evening, informal dialogue, good laughs, and constructive discussions about next steps. A number of ideas were identified including consistent monthly community meetings, cultural activities, and youth projects.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry added; “Thank you to those that attended, took membership applications and asked questions. It was clear Métis people in attendance were up to date on the latest issues and are looking forward to the new future with the BC Métis Federation.”

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry concluded; “Thank you BC Métis Federation board member Gloria Rendell for the wonderful dinner and organization. Thank you to Rene Therrien to the Métis fiddle music and attendance from Terrace. It is clear the Métis community in Prince Rupert needs to be reenergized and move forward. We identified a number of practical ideas to implement to encourage and increase community support and future participation.”
