(Kamloops, BC) –The BC Métis Federation representatives attended an open house attended by approximately 50 people that serviced as a Christmas Season celebration earlier today at the White Buffalo Aboriginal and Métis Health Society located in Kamloops BC. Federation President Mr. Keith Henry, Vice President Mr. Daryl Piper, Cultural Ambassador Ms. Beverly Lambert, and board member Mrs. Maxine Lavallee all made the trip from the lower mainland to bring greetings and support a Métis cultural presentation. BC Métis Federation representatives provided jigging and gifts for the children in attendance.

BC Métis Federation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with White Buffalo in September 2012. The MOU recognizes the important role of the BC Métis Federation as a political advocacy organization while supporting the service delivery and programming needs of the White Buffalo society for services they provide to Métis people in Kamloops and area. Since the MOU signing BC Métis Federation has provided letters of support and met with White Buffalo representatives to better understand how better to work together.

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated; “The BC Métis Federation team was pleased to attend and support White Buffalo for the important Métis health work they are doing in the community in Kamloops. Clearly the community was pleased that we showed up and communities like this are realizing that BC Métis Federation’s actions speak volumes for how we care. There was very good attendance and it was great to see so much support for White Buffalo and BC Métis Federation.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry added: “I made it clear that we valued the relationship with White Buffalo and our job was to support their program needs as political advocates. I also stressed that our Nation must support the agencies meet the needs of their clients, it is these families and children that need our support.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded: “Thank you to the BC Métis Federation team who attended with me as we continue to volunteer our time for our Nation and communities. The children all had a great time and they appreciated the gifts and support from the BC Métis Federation.”
