(Vancouver, BC) The BC Métis Federation leaders congratulate Baillie Redfern for her graduation as one of Canada’s only Métis doctors. Baillie graduated during an Indigenous ceremony at the University of British Columbia located in Vancouver yesterday.
BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry states; “This is a major personal accomplishment for Baillie who has worked tirelessly in her studies. Baillie is now in a very exclusive class of post-secondary graduates and she is a role model for many of our Métis people in British Columbia and Canada.”
BC Metis Federation President Henry concluded; “Baillie showed determination throughout her studies which took tremendous sacrifices and work. Baillie never forgot about her community and culture while contributing since being elected to the BC Métis Federation in 2014. Baillie was always offering beading work and even facilitated a few beading workshops, she was involved in key policy discussions, and today she will be taking next steps to become a practicing Métis physician. On behalf of our leaders we are extremely proud of this accomplishment.”
