(Vancouver, BC) The BC Métis Federation continues to rebuild Métis representative governance in BC and the strategic plan includes a relentless commitment to timely communications through the website and effective use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Daily updates and Metis news stories have attracted attention of interested readers across Canada, and internationally with the majority of users surfing in from British Columbia. To date BC Metis Federations communication strategy has been highly successful due to daily publication of updates, articles and video presentations.
Webmaster Earlene Bitterman stated, “One of the challenges for any Métis organization is effective communication to its members, beyond newsletters and the BC Metis Federation webpage, social media has greatly increased awareness of the issues within the Nation”.
The highest post of interest this month was the Trial of Louis Riel play with a paid advertisement which reached 152,488 viewers, and Metis Coffee Talk show coming in as a close second in highest hits recorded. Contributing to BC Metis federation’s communication success is the active participation of citizens sharing and liking the individual posts with a peak reach of 134,000 individuals newly discovering the BC Metis Federation.
BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry concluded, “Thank you to one and all for the interest and engagement.
