BC Métis Federation Regional Gathering – Surprising Turn Out In Kelowna, the Momentum Builds

BCMF Kelowna Regional Gathering

(Kelowna, BC) The BC Métis Federation held their third Regional Gatherings entitled A New Beginning tonight in Kelowna, BC for the Thompson Okanagan region at the Coast Capri Hotel. There was a surprising crowd with about 25 people in attendance. This was the third of seven BC Métis Federation led Regional Gatherings being held throughout BC from March 3rd and May 19th.

BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “This was a great surprise to see many people attend for this region. They attended from different areas of the region including Kamloops, Penticton, and Vernon.”

President Henry added, “This was a very successful meeting. We also had a number of our BC Métis Federation team attend from the Lower Mainland to North East BC. There was a real sense of pride and for the first time I saw a marked change where individuals were speaking and protecting the future of the BC Métis Federation. It is clear we have passed a new point and level of commitment, trust and support.”

President Henry concluded, “True to our word we respected everyone who attended. Even an MNBC representative attended and at one point spoke out. We respected his opinion and point of view. Moreover it was great to have fun and celebrate who we are as Métis people. I am so excited for the next Regional Gathering in Cranbrook. These sessions are already better attended when compared to our previous community work in the past as the CCMC. I am confident the momentum will continue to increase and Métis people can feel safe and open to have a honest dialogue as part of the BC Métis Federation.”
