The BC Metis Federation sent a letter to the Provincial Ministry of Education and over 2000 educators yesterday to address concerns related to Metis culture and control in education across British Columbia.
There are over 60 School Districts and various Aboriginal Enhancement Agreements but protocol, meaningful Metis participation, and Metis cultural input continues to be challenging.
The letter was spurred by a recent meeting with a school district where an Aboriginal person they represent all Aboriginal people in the area. The goal is to raise awareness and seek more meaningful input.
