The BC Métis Federation (BCMF) has announced its 2023-24 Action Plan, which was made possible by the $4.4 million BCMF has raised, much of it funded by own-source revenues. The Action Plan includes strategies for expanded Michif language resources, cultural programming, research activities, a cultural centre to celebrate the living culture of Métis people across the province, plus much more.
“We have an exciting year ahead of us,” said BCMF President Keith Henry. “More and more people are reconnecting with their Métis roots, and we’re proud to support them in discovering more about their culture and language. I’m looking forward to meeting and exceeding every single one of the ambitious targets we have set out in this Action Plan, and can’t wait to reach new milestones together.”
As always, the BCMF remains committed to its members and partner communities, who play a pivotal role in supporting Métis people in BC. Capacity building will continue to be a main focus, and the Action Plan includes concrete steps to increase the BCMF team’s capacity and to invest in new tools to connect with partner communities, members, employers and storytellers.
