Métis people across Canada will be anxiously awaiting a historic decision in the long awaited Daniels Case. A case that started in 1999 will finally determine whether or not Métis are to be considered “Indians”, as described in section 91(24) of the Canadian Constitution. This case has been won in favour of the Métis in the lower courts and Métis are optimistic. This decision could have major affects on Métis people throughout Canada if the Supreme Court also agrees that 91 (24) does include the Métis.
Watch for an immediate update when the ruling is made on April 14th this week.
