Federal Liberal Aboriginal Affairs Critic Honourable Carolyn Bennett Responds

BC Metis Federation continues efforts to address the ongoing calls for Federal Government recognition.  The current Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada Minister Honourable John Duncan has yet to commit to any meetings with the BC Metis Federation despite the growing support and legitimate representation BC Metis Federation provides for over 6300 Metis members throughout BC.  The Federal Government has chosen to ignore the Metis issues in British Columbia and across this country which have contributed to Metis language and overall cultural loss.

BC Metis Federation continues to work with Provincial Government representatives and will continue our rightful place with the Federal Government.  BC Metis Federation knows there must be a stop to Federal policy and program design by organizations such as the Metis Nation British Columbia who do not represent the interests of their approximate 7000 members.
