Final Métis Cultural Event for Summer – Roots Music Festival

Prince George, BC – The musicians and many of those in attendance at the Roots Music Festival hosted by Peyak Li Moond Métis Society in Prince George this past weekend have stated it to be one of the best festivals of the year. The BC Métis Federation was one of the sponsors and Vice President Rene Therrien assisted the event throughout the three (3) days. The Métis Roots Music Festival exceeded expectations in only the first (1st) year and no one predicted such a fantastic turnout.

Friday got off to a good start with over one hundred people by the end of the evening. Saturday night was standing room only and Sunday the attendance was near to capacity right to the end. The wonderful line-up of talented musicians played to a large audience and a floor full of dancers enjoying the music all weekend.
The food was great all weekend. There were 125 plates served at the Saturday dinner with an excellent roast beef meal with all the trimmings.

BC Métis Federation Vice President Therrien added, “Without Bonnie Gunton and Rose Bortolon & the Peyak Li Moond Métis Society BOD that had the vision & coordinated the festival, the musicians entertaining, the audience and the many volunteers and members working so hard to pull this event together we would not have been so successful. Thank you all for working together as a team.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “Métis culture and working with Métis communities is our commitment. Thank you to our Vice President, Peyak Li Moond Society leadership and volunteers, and so many others. This is why BC Métis Federation continues to grow each month.
