(Clearwater, BC) BC Métis Federation leadership and project team members attended the final Reconciliation Project meeting in Clearwater this past Saturday.
BC Metis Federation once again arranged Métis culture and shared information about the Reconciliation Project launched in partnership between the BC Métis Federation and the Province of British Columbia’s Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR). The meeting also discussed the current status of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project as well as Métis membership. This weekend was the final of the latest advertised round of community-based meetings which were held throughout British Columbia between August – October.
BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “This was the final community meeting and what a great way to conclude. The meeting in Clearwater we well attended and excellent discussions. People in attendance discussed local issues including the future of the Trans Mountain Project and several other needs.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry further added, “Thank you to Cindy Wilgosh for her work as a local leader in Clearwater to organize and arrange the community meeting. The people in attendance had great interest in the work and collective outcomes. Our team will now focus on analyzing the surveys collected throughout the six (6) community meetings as well as the recent Annual General Meeting.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded. “BC Métis Federation will be preparing a final report and releasing in November. Thank you members and friends who attended the meetings and contributed invaluable input into the development of how we define reconciliation plus continue to address other key issues.”
