In Memoriam: Greg Mazur

It is with great sadness that the BC Métis Federation shares that Greg Mazur passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Our thoughts and prayers are with Greg’s beloved wife Peggy, his two sons Christopher and Daniel, his daughter Nicole, and the rest of his family and friends. Funeral details will be released at a later time.

Born in Antler, Saskatchewan and raised on a small farm in southwestern Manitoba, Greg was a member of the Roblin Métis Association in the 70’s and 80’s before moving to BC where he became very active in Métis politics. In 2010, Greg “retired” to Kelowna with his wife Peggy but stayed active in supporting his community and recently helped to found the Métis Association of Central Okanagan where he served as President.

Greg was a member of the BCMF team for many years, most recently serving as the Director of Industry Engagement. In this role, Greg led a team that has helped Métis contractors and workers gain access to incredible economic opportunities, making a significant impact in the lives of many Métis families throughout the province.

Throughout his life and career, Greg Mazur was always a champion of the Métis, and his passing is a tremendous loss. Those that knew Greg will remember most his kindness and of course his sense of humour. It is those memories that we will carry in our hearts when we think of Greg.
