Clara Morin Dal Col
President
Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC)
Re: Meeting Request
Dear President Morin,
I want to congratulate you on your recent election as MNBC President. I respect and recognize how challenging public office can be and despite past differences with MNBC, I do sincerely respect anyone who lets their name stand for any of our Métis communities or organizations.
It is in the spirit of partnership that I write this letter. I want to seek your leadership to explore ways our organizations can begin a new relationship to try to work together. The past and current situation of division and adversarial tones between MNBC and the BC Métis Federation must come to an end. I hope for a future where we demonstrate reconciliation and problem solving between our respective organizations while still understanding the independent nature of the needs of our Métis members. I also philosophically believe that differences of opinions are healthy in our communities and respectful debate only serve a balanced future on all issues Métis people confront.
I propose that we meet at your convenience to share updates on the work our organizations are undertaking. Ideally, we can meet with a focus to have our boards meet in the future.
Let’s start a clean slate and open dialogue with no expectations. You predecessor was also requested to meet but chose not to work for the betterment of all Métis people. I am hopeful that you will see past politics and negative rhetoric.
I look forward to a timely response.
Thank you,
Keith Henry
