In recognition of common interests and as an expression of the desire and intent to expand and strengthen the relationships developed between the organizations, the MOU was signed to declare an intention to work collaboratively for the betterment of Métis children and family services programming:
- Collaborate on Mètis children and family service programming as it relates to Métis people in Prince George;
- Support programming proposals that support the intent of this relationship; and
- Ensure future Mètis children and family service policies that affect Métis people in Prince George have been properly consulted and reviewed prior to implementation.
BC Metis Federation President Henry stated; “I am very thankful to the Kikino Métis Children and Family agency board and staff for agreeing to work together to support all Métis people in Prince George and area. The board and staff have much to be proud of and this is an agency that truly makes a difference for our people.” BC Métis Federation President Henry added; “The signing reinforces the need for leadership in the BC Métis Federation to work as advocates and policy development that enhances the services of agencies like Kikino Métis Children and Family Services. They need our political support and not us interfering in their service delivery.” BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded;”Kikino Métis Children and Family Services joins the growing support for the BC Métis Federation as we continue our relentless commitment to rebuild the Métis Nation.
BC Métis Federation offers new provincial leadership that understands how to support the communities and agencies while not competing against them for scarce government resources for services for our grassroots Métis people. Congratulations to Kikino Métis Children and Family Services for their 10th anniversary and on behalf of our board, staff, communities, and agencies we currently work with, welcome aboard!”
