The BC Métis Federation is supporting V’ni Dansi‘s 11th annual Louis Riel Day Celebration, taking place November 12th, 2016 at 8:00PM at the Scotiabank Dance Centre in Vancouver. This event will kick up heels with a double bill of traditional Métis dance and innovative contemporary creation.
Eagle Spirit is a contemporary solo choreographed and performed by Artistic Director Yvonne Chartrand, which probes themes of death and rebirth, and the eagle’s connection to the spirit world.
Following this, The Louis Riel Métis Dancers – V’ni Dansi’s traditional dance group – perform the joyous jigs, reels and square dances that Métis culture is famed for, accompanied by the high spirited strains of the JJ Lavallee Band.
