(Vancouver, BC) Today the Métis Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announces the launch of their new job seekers database. This database will be used to connect individual Métis to employers seeking job candidates within the MEDC projects and partnerships. 

“We will be looking at partnering with a recruitment company that will be able to manage this capacity, but in the mean time we needed something for our individual community members to be able to access now”, said Shauna Benson, consulting Executive Director for MEDC.

Benson added, “We currently have some great partnerships with proactive companies and now we are building our Métis business with Camp & Catering, Surveyors, Security, Medical, R & D, Metal Manufacturing, and many more.”

MEDC Chair and President Keith Henry further added; “MEDC is experiencing more opportunities to bid on larger projects which will result in better success when MEDC adds the labour market component from many of the partner proponent’s opportunities. With the successful partnerships through MEDC today comes the need to hire individuals and to have the opportunity to help those individuals seeking work. This MEDC database announced today will assist in providing an accurate inventory of Métis skills workforce available today, greater enhancement on procurement applications, and provides MEDC and our partners additional strategies to assist grass roots Métis member and partner communities with certifications, training, etc. Across the province there are over 70,000 Métis and we know there is a growing need for a strong labour force in this province, regardless of what major projects will be taking place.
