(Abbotsford, BC) The Coalition of Concerned Métis Citizens (CCMC) predicated last year that the Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) would be so close to insolvency by April 2011 that they would be incapable of paying for basic operational costs such as their property taxes on the Métis School in Abbotsford. Lets us all recall it was the MNBC Board of Directors who decided to purchase the property without community consultation in June of 2009. MNBC then informed Métis people during their Annual General Meeting in Penticton of September 2009 how this acquisition would yield revenues within two years. The CCMC and several Métis people throughout British Columbia have been critical of this MNBC professed economic development venture.
