Peaceful act of civil disobedience planned for October to defend Canada’s west coast from tar sands pipelines and tankers

The BC Metis Federation is sending an update to all that a major peaceful anti Enbridge rally is being held in October. BC Metis Federation continues to work with a number of First Nations regarding the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines Project after hearing the majority of Metis in BC do not support this project.

BC Metis Federation is pleased to share a document with details from the Yinka Dene Alliance and we strongly encourage all Metis people in BC to make plans to attend this peaceful demonstration. BC Metis Federation leader representation will be in attendance.

Watch for future updates….

Hadih’ Brothers and Sisters, Allies and Fellow leaders,

On behalf of the Yinka Dene alliance I would like to invite you to join us at a historic event. This October 22nd our membership will come to Victoria and be joined by thousands of allies to once again stand up for our rights as Indigenous people and to let the BC Premier and Prime Minister Harper know that the coast and our lands are not for sale for tar sands tankers and pipelines.

Below is a bit more information about the action. We invite you and your Nation to participate in the action itself or in a peaceful rally/feast that will take place on Saturday, October 20th.

There are funds available to help community members make the trip to Victoria. If you are interested in these funds please contact support@defendourcoast.ca

I very much hope that you will be able to make the trip to Victoria so we can once again stand together as First Nations people.

Thank you for your consideration,

Snachailya,

Geraldine Thomas-Flurer
