Second Annual Métis Music Jamboree Hosts Hundreds

(McLeese Lake, BC) – BC Métis Federation and the Cariboo Chilcotin Métis Association, one of the partner communities of the BC Métis Federation, are celebrating another success with the co-hosting of their Métis Music Jamboree that was held over the weekend once again at McLeese Lake, British Columbia.

Cariboo Chilcotin Métis Association (CCMA) is from Williams Lake located in central British Columbia and represents over several hundred and fifty members. CCMA has an office downtown and has run programs and services for their members to support families and individuals. CCMA signed an agreement to work with the BC Métis Federation in July 2012 and since this time the organizations continue to collaborate and find ways to work and support one another.

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated: “Thank you to the CCMA leadership, volunteers, and performers for the collective work this weekend! There were a number of great performers including JJ Lavallee and so many others! CCMA leaders once again pulled through in every way you can imagine. Thank you to their President Laura Lee Marshall and their key board and team members Wayne Lucier, Arnold Lucier, Alex Norquay, Marlene Swears, and so many others.”

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry concluded: “This was another great Summer of Culture event supported by the BC Métis Federation. We are now preparing for the final major Métis music festival in Terrace next weekend August 15th – 17th with partner community Skeena River Métis Community Association. Once again we expect hundreds out and celebrating cultural pride brought together by the work of our partner community in Terrace and the BC Métis Federation.”
