The second of 6 Kinder Morgan Canada community consultation meetings coordinated by the BC Metis Federation took place Saturday October 5th 2013 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Comfort Inn 3020 Blanshard Street, Victoria B.C.

Those in attendance were from all over the Island including Sooke, Mid Island, Cowichan Valley, Shawnigan Lake, Victoria, and the Lower Mainland. Kinder Morgan provided a presentation including a question and answer period with lunch provided.
The participants in attendance remained very respectful and all agreed there was a great deal of information provided by Kinder Morgan and that they had a lot to consider, Kinder Morgan had provided detailed information for them to make an informed decision regarding the proposed pipeline.

B.C. Metis Federation Vice President Daryl Piper stated that Kinder Morgan had allowed the Victoria Metis community to participate in the consultation process and that was the intent of meeting, and this will allow the Metis people to make an informed decision regarding the pipeline.

BC Metis Federation Kinder Morgan coordinator Cynthia Kolada was quoted as saying, “The Victoria Metis Consultation with Kinder Morgan was huge success. Issues were raised that had not been discussed before in this kind of environment and the Metis people respectfully raised many questions and issues for Kinder Morgan Canada to think about and respond to. The meeting was productive and it gave Metis people from the island an opportunity to have their voices heard. I am excited to continue with the consultation process and even more excited to produce a final province wide consultation report based on the six communities that we are consulting with in partnership with Kinder Morgan the pipeline.”

Thank you to all who took the time to participate in a meaningful dialogue, and thank you to Kinder Morgan for including the Métis Communities in the consultation process. BC Metis Federation is urging all Metis people in Kamloops to attend the next Kinder Morgan consultation meeting on November 2nd 2013.
