(Prince George, BC) BC Métis Federation leadership and project team members attended the second Reconciliation Project meeting in Prince George today working with one of the local Métis community organizations, Peyak Li Moond Métis Society (Peyak).
BC Metis Federation arranged to showcase Métis culture and shared information about the Reconciliation Project launched in partnership between the BC Métis Federation and the Province of British Columbia’s Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR). Today marked the second of six (6) community-based meetings which will be held throughout British Columbia between August – October.
The attendees reviewed the meeting materials including the rationale explaining the importance of the project while answering specific items on the questionnaire to clarify what Métis people want for future reconciliation in key areas of education, health, children and family services, and other key topic areas.
BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “This was another successful community meeting. Peyak was a gracious Métis community organization host and the attendance was strong with important questions and clarification.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “We look forward to seeing members and friends in Victoria on at the next project community event September 8th. Once again BC Métis Federation is arranging Métis music and cultural celebration.”
