The BC Metis Federation was informed yesterday that another Metis community (Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association – CCMA) notified the Metis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) that they refused to take part in the upcoming MNBC General Election scheduled for September 15th, 2012 because of the illegal actions of MNBC.
BC Metis Federation has been advocating to governments about the illegal electoral actions by MNBC regarding their own required election processes. This latest Metis community to further step away from MNBC continues to showcase how the MNBC no longer has a proper mandate or recognition by the Metis people governments fund them to serve. Government responses about various issues raised by BC Metis Federation suggest MNBC is the only recognizes provincial organization. The continued loss of support to participate in MNBC elections seriously questions why governments have yet to properly respond.
BC Metis Federation is providing a copy of the CCMA letter that makes their position quite clear.
BC Metis Federation continues to urge other Metis communities and MNBC citizenship card carrying people not to participate in the improper September 15th MNBC election.
