In partnership with the Canadian Coast Guard, the “Co-Developing Community response” project’s main objective is to build strong communication and knowledge on marine issues between the Canadian Coast Guard, BC Métis Federation and its members.
West Coast Water Protectors
BC Métis Federation has developed a roster of members to participates in several months of study through cooperation with the Canadian Coast Guard. These 8 members will receive training and certification in incident management, emergency response and communications through the Justice Institute of B.C.

The first course kicks off September 1st, with graduation anticipated for the Spring.
If you are a BCMF member and are passionate about our Oceans, waterways and coastlines, we invite you to join this project. Over the course of seven months, you will participate in virtual meetings, and receive three course certifications. All applicants must have a good understanding of computer-related skills and be able to commit to 35-45 hours of online course training and a minimum of four (4) virtual group meetings.
