The BC Métis Federation (BCMF) is pleased to announce the release of its new strategic plan, which will guide the federation from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028.
The strategic plan was developed in close consultation with BCMF members, the Board of Directors, Partner Communities, and staff. It contains special emphasis on:
- Métis rights and recognition
- Cultural revitalization
- Member and community support
- Capacity development
The 2025-26 Strategic Plan also includes plans for three new BCMF departments: Education, Housing and Justice, as well as for the development of a Pacific Northwest Métis Cultural Centre, a home for Métis heritage and stories.
“This strategic plan follows a period of immense growth and success for BCMF and is, therefore, our most ambitious yet,” said Keith Henry, BCMF President. “It’s a reflection of our Métis pride and motivation and lays out a clear path forward as we work towards our vision.”
In addition to clear benchmarks for success, the plan also includes a retrospective look at how far BCMF has come. After 13 years in operation, BCMF now has a large office with 22 dedicated staff working to support the needs of 6,000+ members and nine partner communities across the province.
