Join the Nova Métis Heritage Association for a meaningful Campfire Gathering on Sunday, February 9th, to reflect on the legacy of Louis Riel, a pivotal figure in Métis history.
Each year, the wrongful execution of Louis Riel on November 16th, 1885, is commemorated, but what truly happened in 1885 and its enduring legacy is still widely unknown. Keith Henry, President of the BC Métis Federation, will offer a presentation that includes an overview of the events at Batoche and a personal perspective on its intergenerational impacts.
- Food & refreshments provided
- Door prizes & a 50/50 raffle
- Free parking available
- From 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
The Nova Métis Heritage Association will host this Campfire Gathering at Surrey Nature Centre Hall (14225 Green Timbers Way). It will be an opportunity to connect, learn about Métis history, and share in a communal space of reflection and dialogue.
