$25,000 Invested by BC Métis Federation for Culture

(Vancouver, BC) – The BC Métis Federation continues establishing strong Métis governance for the members. This past weekend the board met on Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd to review organization operations and priorities. The meeting was held in Vancouver at the BC Métis Federation office.

A number of exciting decisions were made including approval of several new investments for Métis culture including the following:

  • Terrace Event (Skeen Métis) $4000.00
  • Fort St. John Event $1500.00
  • Louis Riel Symposium $7100.00
  • Prince George Event $2400.00
  • Eurofest $1100.00
  • Vancouver Multicultural Event $1500.00
  • Fusion Festival $1000.00
  • Aboriginal Cultural Festival Victoria $2000.00
  • McLeese Lake (Cariboo Chilcotin) $1500.00
  • Vancouver Community Barbeque $1000.00

BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “Our board worked like a true team by ensuring open dialogue, concerns addressed, and working together to support strong governance.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry added, “Our leadership continues to be committed to supporting communities and our Métis culture. The latest investments in Métis culture reflect our best efforts to support Métis cultural promotion for communities and members throughout British Columbia. Thank you to key partners such as Kinder Morgan Canada, Trans Canada and Enbridge who have committed to investing in our communities to support Métis culture and community capacity.

BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “There were many other exciting developments during our recent board meeting and I strongly encourage members and partners to review all action items and motions posted as our draft BC Métis Federation minutes to appreciate the significant progress.”
