The BC Métis Federation (BCMF) extends its congratulations to Prime Minister Mark Carney as he begins a new term as leader of the Government of Canada. As this new mandate begins, we call on all Canadians and political leaders to move forward together in a renewed spirit of unity, transparency, and shared responsibility.

This election represents a renewed opportunity for federal leadership to prioritize meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. BCMF urges the Prime Minister and all elected officials—regardless of party affiliation—to deepen their understanding of the issues facing Métis communities across the country, including here in British Columbia.

Reconciliation is not a single act or event; it is an ongoing commitment to justice, recognition, and respect. BCMF remains steadfast in its advocacy for Métis rights and recognition, and we look forward to working with the federal government to ensure that Métis voices are heard and valued in all matters of public policy.
