Vancouver, British Columbia, December 13, 2024 — BC Métis Federation (BCMF) is pleased to announce that as of January 1, 2025, children who are under the age of 18 who are eligible for Full Membership will have their membership fees waived.

The BCMF Board of Directors made this decision in order to address the increasing costs of living for families across the province, and in order to remove barriers to membership for families.

“Métis children in BC deserve the same recognition and support as everyone else,” said BCMF President Keith Henry. “BCMF is dedicated to representing their interests and those of all of our members, and we’re happy to waive membership fees for children who qualify for Full Membership.”

Full Membership to the BC Métis Federation is only granted upon proof of genealogy, going back five generations or 100 years. Visit BCMetis.com/membership for more information or to start your application.
