The BC Métis Federation recently brought Métis culture to life for a Grade 4 class near Terrace, delivering a fun and interactive presentation on Métis heritage at Thornhill Elementary.
Alan Sauve led the session, offering students an engaging introduction to Métis history, identity, and living traditions. Jordan Therrien arrived as “Louis Jr”—the bison mascot of BCMF’s Strong Roots youth programming initiative—sparking laughter and curiosity while highlighting the historical significance of the bison to Métis.
The visit, led by the Skeena River Métis Community Association, is part of the BC Métis Federation’s ongoing commitment to Métis cultural education and youth engagement. By fostering meaningful connections with schools and communities across the province, BCMF supports the next generation in understanding and celebrating Métis history and contributions.
