From November 12th-15th, the BC Métis Federation’s Conservation Department held a Generations of Wisdom retreat on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The Conservation Department team spent multiple days with wonderful Métis from across the province exploring beautiful Tofino, and more importantly, exploring one another’s past.
There were deep conversations on growing up Métis, abandonment, racism, the connection to their ancestry (or the lack thereof), their relationship with the land and water, where BCMF’s Conservation team has done well with their personal journeys on conservation, and where they can do better. On the last day of the Generations of Wisdom retreat, participants stopped in at the Ucluelet Aquarium for a tour.
