(Vancouver, BC) BC Metis Federation is continuing their work to support Métis communities with a focus on celebrating Métis culture. In 2013 the BC Métis Federation executed a strategic plan with a “Summer of Culture” campaign that supported twelve (12) Métis cultural and reached an audience of an estimated 100,000 visitors at events in a number of locations across British Columbia. Once again BC Métis Federation has planned a series of Métis cultural events with partner communities for 2014 under the new “Summer of Culture” campaign.

The cultural events requires countless hours of dedication, volunteerism, and funding. BC Métis Federation has relied on the contributions of donors to support the events. Today we are pleased that the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages has approved resources for Métis Days being held July 1st – 3rd this summer in Stanley Park as part of the Klahowya Village.
BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated; “The hard work by the BC Métis Federation and our partner communities is paying off. This new Federal Government investment through the BC Métis Federation is yet another signal of the increasing support and recognition of the BC Métis Federation.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “BC Mètis Federation has a number cultural events for Métis people to attend and celebration and learn about who the Métis people are. I sincerely thank Minister Glover for her support and these resources will be reinvested into our artists and performs this Canada Day. We know there will be a great turn out of Métis support on July 1st – 3rd.”
