The BC Métis Federation is deeply saddened to share the passing of Dale Rodney Haggerty, a proud Métis man and community leader. Dale passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2025.
Dale was known for his generosity, powerful voice, and unwavering commitment to Métis culture and youth. As President of the Michif Historical and Cultural Preservation Society and Curator of the Michif Métis Museum, he dedicated himself to preserving and sharing Métis history and traditions. He was also a champion lawn bowler, trades instructor, and passionate advocate for Indigenous education, making lasting impacts in communities across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
The BCMF Board and staff extend our heartfelt condolences to Dale’s wife, family, and all who were touched by his kind and generous spirit. His voice, stories, and deep commitment to community will not be forgotten.
