(Surrey, BC) The BC Métis Federation board congratulates the leadership of Nova Métis Heritage Association (Nova) in Surrey for a recent Métis cultural education forum in Surrey. Nova President Ken Fisher and board member Anthony Krilow provided an overview of Métis cultural education to a large number of School District #36 teachers and support staff. The overview provided information about the local Métis community and background on Métis culture.
BC Métis Federation President Henry stated, “Thank you to Nova leadership for this important work. School District #36 has one of the largest Aboriginal student populations in British Columbia. There is an estimated 5000 Métis people resident in Surrey and it is important to connect these representative organizations with al levels of government and any potential partners.”
BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “Thank you for your work President Fisher and Board Member Krilow. Hopefully this is he start of a stronger relationship to benefit Métis students in the school district.”
