BC Métis Federation Meets with leadership in Surrey

Nova Meeting
(Surrey, BC) Representatives of the BC Métis Federation leadership attended the Nova Métis Heritage Association (Nova) board meeting in Surrey on Sunday, October 20th, 2013. Nova signed a Statement of Cooperation with the BC Métis Federation in 2011 and BC Métis Federation has continued to support attending as requested. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various items including community governance, Nova priorities, the Trial of Louis Riel play, and BC Métis Federation updates.

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated, “The meeting was interesting, good dialogue and some strong debate, many clarifications, and discussions about the joint efforts to support fundraising for Nova and the Trial of Louis Riel.”

BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry added, “Nova is planning to address a number of challenges including education representation with School District #36 as well as planning for the Nova annual general meeting being held November 16th.”

BC Métis Federation President Henry concluded, “Thank you to Nova board members who have volunteered and continue to support work for the Métis community in Surrey. BC Métis Federation will continue to work and support the needs of the partner community and together we can and will make a difference. There are a number of items we are working on together including consultation regarding the Kinder Morgan Canada proposed TransMountain Expansion project, fundraising, and education support for families in School District #36.”
