BC Métis Federation Releases 2024–25 Annual Report

Vancouver, British Columbia — October 26, 2025 – The BC Métis Federation (BCMF) has released its 2024–25 Annual Report, marking a year of continued growth, innovation, and cultural resurgence in its fourteenth year of operations.

The report highlights BCMF’s progress in advancing Métis identity, language, and community connection across the province. Key achievements include the launch of MetisInBC.ca, a groundbreaking digital platform that centralizes research and findings about Métis communities throughout the historic Pacific Northwest, and the release of LearnMichif.ca and the Michif-French Language App, which together form the backbone of BCMF’s language revitalization efforts.

BCMF also celebrated the graduation of the first cohort in its Michif Language Revitalization Program, representing a major milestone in preserving and passing on the endangered Michif language.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to strengthen Métis culture, expand opportunities, and ensure that members’ voices guide everything we do,” said BCMF President Keith Henry. “This year’s report reflects the depth of our commitment to cultural resurgence, environmental stewardship, and economic participation for Métis people across British Columbia.”

In addition to major cultural milestones, the report outlines BCMF’s efforts in:

  • Expanding partnerships with industry to create employment and procurement opportunities for Métis members;
  • Delivering new conservation initiatives that promote sustainability and respect for future generations;
    Hosting the organization’s most successful Annual General Meeting to date in Victoria; and
  • Continuing strong advocacy in areas of governance, child and family well-being, and community development.

Audited by KPMG, BCMF’s financial statements reaffirm the Federation’s dedication to fiscal accountability and transparent governance.
