BC Metis Federation President Keith Henry has been requested to attend a University of British Columbia Faculty of Law’s Indigenous Law Students’ Association (ILSA) in their upcoming panel on the topic of the ‘Aboriginal Identity and the law’.
The panel discussion will be held on Wednesday
February 27 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in Allard Hall Law at UBC.
The panel discussion titled Aboriginal Identity: Should the Government be in the Business of Defining Aboriginal Identity?
We would like each panelist to speak for 15 minutes addressing the following prospective questions:
(1) Should the government be in the business of defining Aboriginal identity?
(2) If not, where should this conversation take place?
(3) How important are legal categories for Aboriginal peoples’ self-identity?
