Metis Coffee Talk will feature special guest Lawrie Barkwell from Manitoba who is in British Columbia to present at the upcoming Metis Identity Symposium in Prince George this Saturday.
Lawrence Barkwell is an Honourary Life Member of the Manitoba Métis Federation. In 2004, he retired after 41 years with Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Justice and the Manitoba Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat. He then worked for MMF as Senior Policy Analyst in the Tripartite Self-Government Negotiations Department then as the founding Director of the Metis Justice Institute. He retired from this position in December 2006. He is semi-retired and currently volunteers as the Coordinator of Metis Heritage and History Research for the Louis Riel Institute.
