BC Métis Federation leaders and the Métis community in Clearwater, BC celebrated National Indigenous Day this past Friday. Métis community leader Cindy Wilgosh and local board members hosted the National Indigenous Day celebrations featuring Métis music, dance, culture and activities from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM in Clearwater. Local residents, school district students, local tourists, and a number of resident First Nations attended throughout the day.
BC Métis Federation President Keith Henry stated, “I was honoured to present our donation for this important cultural activity and meet with the local leadership to discuss key issues such as the recent Government of Canada decision regarding the Trans Mountain Expansion project.”
BC Metis Federation President Henry concluded, “Thank you to our entire team including Vice President Rene Therrien, board member JJ Lavallee, Sherry Daniels, and partners at the Michif Historical and Preservation Society including Derick Whiteskycloud. The day was a success and we all left proud to be Métis.”
