On Monday, May 5th, the BC Métis Federation (BCMF), the North Thompson Aboriginal Cultural Centre Society (NTACCS), the Interior Métis Association and the Kwseltkten Services Society hosted a MMIW 5k Run/Walk in Clearwater.
The event was held on Red Dress Day and began with an opening ceremony that included songs to acknowledge and honour MMIW. The route was lined with red dresses, and many participants brought artwork or wore red to show their support. The walk brought community members together to show solidarity in protecting Indigenous women and children.
